76-81 Saginaw 4 Speed Gearbox

Can anyone provide some guidance as to the rebuild cost for the above, including the supply of all the parts?

Parts include the rebuild kit, and some new gears as I believe (at least three) are knackered.

This is all with a view to delivering / collecting the box to the builder.

Cheers

Loads less than the cost to rebuild an A833 I can promise you that ;)
Check US eBay they should be around a 100 quid, if you need bearings get em from any local bearing engineering supplier.
Nice to see ya still about tho mate, how goes it? :)

Ade, thanks for the quick response :D

This is for a freind of a freind (in case anyone thinks I would buy a Corvette).

The gearbox sounds like it needs a lot more than a basic rebuild, and I might be understating that fact. It needs handing to someone for them to repair and supply the parts to do so, and hand back. What I am after is a 'pessimistic' price.

Other than that mate I'm all good. Still not interested in replacing the charger yet. MSc done and dusted, but looking at a PhD now so cars are well off the agenda (I think ;) )

Surprised a Vette has a Saginaw and not a Muncie box, their more likely to be found on dead slow compacts and lil trucks.
If its really Bananarama! noisy it'll be a bearing, probably main shaft, any American service garage can manage that I would have thought :thumbright:
