Yes, Satruday night was a bit of a crack - Dave (Gray) 999 was on top form - for someone from a parallel universe...good to see everyone and had a good time with Philth too!!!Mick wrote: Had a great time and a good laugh as well.

Are you going to the HRD's

Yes Mick, that could've well been a 10.0?...sharp motor=more air in the air by the sounds of it in the evening....reckon your 131's prob meant your 60 was a bit off mate.....works the same when your 60 and your ET's better, your mph can drop off a bit as spending less time on the track.Mick wrote:Thanks for the praise, the truth is, me and the car are nothing spectacular to look at but the car delivers pretty good for a basic combo and without trying to sound like i'm boasting, i agree with Blue, from the crisp motor tone on sat evening, i'm convinced it would have gone a 10.0 something. With the extra 200 rpm chip i put in, it ran over 131 three times on the sunday but strangely didn't beat the sat et.
Just like to add, congrats to everyone else who ran well, two not mentioned here, Jon Connelly 10.16 at 130 and Cliff Turner 9.37 at 144.
Had a great time and a good laugh as well.

The strange thing is Les, the first run i did with the 6700 chip was sunday morning, i ran over 131 but also ran my best 60 ft all weekend but still ran slightly slower than the sat run with the lower rpm and slower 60ft.
Here's the two runs.
sat aft run hitting rev limiter before the lights turning 6500
60ft 1.425, 6,433 at 105.90mph, 10.165 at 129.72mph
sun morn higher chip turning 6700 through the lights
60ft 1.415, 6.436 at 105.45mph, 10.171 at 131 .00 mph
I felt sure the sun run was going to be faster but it wasn't
I reckon irrespect of the mph, sat must have had better weather conditions which made up the difference.

Thing is were only talking about 1000th's of a sec here in 60 and et, mph is very close as well...so many variables such as wind speed from one run to the next....lets face it your car with that scoop isn't the best, no yank has any aero dynamics cept maybe the vette/late camaro which is better, reckon if you changed that scoop for a cowl induction type you'd pick up 1/2mph?.
Does sound to me like your motor likes those extra 200 revs and still making good power top end. Were talking less than a 1/10th of a second here for that 10.0, gotta try every little trick in the book.....alternator off
..maybe if you put a 6900 chip in it and short shift 1st & 2nd..worth a try but your starting to push things now, don't know what bottom end you got, assume its aftermarket steel rods?.
Reckon there's a bit there if you can calm the wheelies down a bit somehow....if you haven't tried different total timing settings yet, maybe buy a limited supply of C16...thats worth a shot etc etc....I've always said there's a bit left in there somewhere if you look for it...not that I did that with the '69
....and as you seem determined to do it with what you got, I hope that you find it mate...........of course as I said before all you gotta do is fit that roller and your there, but that will probably push you to 7000 which your not too far away from now anyway.
