I'll keep the hood if that is OK, Steve
In fairness the brakes have bedded in and are much improved.
I have just found a couple of faults with the Dizzy - the cap locking bracket screws were fouling on the plate and causing it to bind; and it was not seating in the block squarely. That's Mallory for you
I have now set it up with 25 degrees initial timing (I am using a starter saver) and about 31 degrees all in for now.
It has cleaned up the emissions no end, it runs cooler and idles at 700rpm in gear.
I managed to back the idle mixture screws a 1/4 turn, but it will not take any less fuel, but at least it is now adjustable.
It drives beautifully and is very docile as long as you are in high gear and below 3000rpm.............
It also withstands the ultimate challenge- Stationary in 1st and then floor it to the metal.....It rises up about 6 inches at the rear and the world dissapears in a cloud of tyresmoke - but the motor does not bog or cut out!!
Runs like a stabbed Rat on Coke!
RESULT!
Thanks to Dave and Blue for all their assistance
