Heater matrix removal

Post by Steve »

Gents,

Over the next coiple of weeks or so, Im going to remove my heater matrix as it was disconnected when I bought the car. The previous owner said it started to leak so he bypassed it. Fan works fine but want to get some heat in her again..... Will do it by the book as per the factory manual but has anyone got any tips on potential pitfalls/ best practices etc please before I get stuck in???

Cheers Steve

Take lots of photos.

But actually it is quite easy to remove the whole heater housing from the car. Once it is out it is easy to work on.

Will do Dave.... Is it easy to service the hoses inside it or is that best left to the experts?? Can they be re-cored if needed?

Thanks for advice

Thanks Gary, what company did your mate use? Is it just a normal radiator services place or a specialist classic place??,

Thanks Gary.... That would be great if you are passing there sometime mate, wouldnt hurt to get an idea of cost... Got a couple of weeks off soon so if my hand is sorted, im going to have a go at getting it out of the car. I know Martyn (coronet 440 wagon) uses a company local in Brum for rad alterations etc so will also give him a bell when its out,

Cheers Steve,

PS must firm up that curry date soon!!

Steve Does`nt have to worry about that Steve, it doesnt matter how wet or cold it is, the Cuda`s windows never need clearing in his garage :D

What steve didn't mention is that its an A/C car. Which makes the box rather bigger.

As i never removed mine with the dash in place i cant comment on how easy or not it is, but my guess is not as easy?

Yeah, aircon car as Roger rightly says ( cheers). Workshop manual is pretty clear on how to do this job but doesnt give me the little tips gained from experience when removing/ replacing etc..... Just wanted to know if anyone know any stumbling blocks etc, things to avoid.... :read2:
