Couple of mods to me Chally

Drew ...my car didnt go any faster with the scoops open, that i noticed...but there was always hope...
but as has been said they are too low to drag in the cold outside air at speed

I did notice that under hood temps were down a bit though...that helps

hence the new AAR type hood being made

Yea that is what I wanted to know ,so do you have seals to keep water out when you have them in?

and anytime you can get under hood temps down is a dam good thing

AAR Cudas have a seal around the cleaner base don't they? The opening in that hood are at low level so the factory must have worked a way of keepin the water away from the filter?

Good question,I have never looked that closely I need to since I will be using a AAR hood

Nope. Well my AAR didn't and it was pretty damn near original...........pretty much the same set up as any 6 pak Mopar car - a big tray to catch the water......

Found some pictures of my old AAR and also the T/A.

The rubber at the top of the pan did not mate a great seal against the hood as the latter curved away due to hood spring tension.

The A12 does not even have a rubber seal.

You can also see the over flow pipe from the tray that then sprays water all over the engine...

On some days I could see the heat haze lifting from the hood scoops on my chally when in traffic.

Keeping under hood temps down makes power just like cold air induction.

My six pack carbs used to get pretty hot at first. In fact the fuel bowl could get almost too hot to touch.

So my aproach was;

Lots of timing advance
Ceramic coated headers
Intake heat cross-over blocked
1/4" thick Cometic gasket between carb and manifold
Ally plate mounted on normal carb gaskets under that.

On the front of the ally plate I placed a 90 degree turn up to deflect air blown from the radiator fan away from the front fuel bowl.

I also removed all the access panels around the engine bay for ventalation.

Hood all pinned down and secured and fuel supply sorted out, ta MickRR!, amazed to see the difference that just installing the Performer intake has made
Really quick throttle response and a whole lot more midrange and top end power, making full use of the cams lift and a good increase in plenum volume, well pleased just a shame I didn't do it for last sunday
Hood looks Bananarama! out in the sunlight tho, my drug fuelled painter must have been proper flyin when he painted this.......... and last night in the garage Hermans partner in crime, Lily, ran head long into the hood while it was leaning against the wall and took an inch off one of the corners
