Got me another 'ratster' Mopar

Post by MilesnMiles »

Delivered by Jon Connolly last week for which much thanks due. it's a long way from Garboldisham to Newquay

1973 Petty Blue Roadrunner 340 car, built in '72 so tax free! Totally stock with whats left of its original paint which is currently being lathered on Gibbs to keep it fresh.
Motor has about 90% new running gear under the floorboards and in fron of the bulkhead. Correct hippo 340 built to pre smog spec with 727 column change trans and a 8.75 at the fat end.
Interior probably still has racoons and snakes in it along with the South Carolina plates.
I'm currently fettling elctrical and brake parts plus tuning before getting on the road. Better pics to follow in due course... :

The car is very solid and the paint in about 95% original. MUch of the darker aspects are not rust, but a reddish primer underneath the blue paint.
The inside is rough and needs just about everything, no headliner, collapsed drivers seat and bleached out dash etc...
The motor has close to zero miles on it and sounds very nice. Just need new brake booster to arrive before I can drive it.

It was in that shape RoadRunner that I had my first experience of big block performance. It was another 10 years before I got my own big block but I never forgot that feeling.

Cool, just needs a period set of wheels and a better stance and jobs a good 'un. This one was only 2 years old at the time and got written off a few weeks later...

Yep, wheels are period correct, but a more raked stance would be good and wider wheels.
