When I first got my Polara the power steering was filled with Dexron ATF and was leaking from a steering gear oil seal. After about a year, during which it leaked constantly, I noticed a few threads on C-Body Dry Dock where people were saying that using tranny fluid would cause the seals to harden and leaks to start. They were all saying that the best stuff to put in there is genuine Mopar PS fluid and that it could even fix leaks that had already appeared by somehow rejuvenating the seals.

Sounded like rubbish to me, but I bought some Mopar PS fluid from a nearby Chrysler/Jeep dealer and replaced as much of the Dexron that I could drain out. Well, I was surprised when the leak slowed down and after a week or so completely stopped. So, needless to say, I'm sticking with Mopar PS in the Polara!

same for me, use power steering fluid as recommended by manufacture. My Buick leaked Dextron, until I used correct GM power steering fluid.
