7 ltr Falcon bit of a resto

Post by andyrob »

SORRY This is a non mopar thread & has very little in common except having a V8
but still in the nature of 'doing up' cars so will post on here

Following been 'helped' off the road @ donington, my pride & joy race car is in a bit of sad way.
Plan for this winter was to rebuild another similar 5ltr falcon, which im currently doing & will start a separate thread for.
So the last thing I wanted was 2 winter projects.
Currently my car is in the cue waiting to go on the jig, so ive removed all the body panels & the engine+box and have been giving her a bit of tidy up underneath

Pete hopefully the cost of repairing it wont be much at all,Ive now got 3 doner road cars, first one spotted by dunc taking the pee & ive bought the next 2 for buttons, so thats the sheet metal, mirrors, rear lights etc & lucky I made moulds for the non std bumpers.
Lucky non of the mega bucks specail V8 supercars bit have been damaged from what I can see so far.(fingers crossed no rear sup damage)

The engine is a small block saleen S7R race motor so quite a rare & fancy thing, last engine rebuild was $$$ as needed all the titanium jesel valve gear replaced, pistons etc etc but lucky this time is only a set of valves as the titanium ones were burnt with all the crap they put in shell optimax (or so ive been told) so going back to stainless ones & a set of rings + block hone

yip caveman stuff, this is a 1999 car and they are still running them now, but they are changing them next year for the 'car of the future'
Axle is quite trick actually in having camber plates & outer cv joints, so you can ajust rear toe & camber.

Mr Hauser ahs been quite interested in some of the auz stuff Ive sent him to fix, the harrop pigs nose & spool made a mark williams/nascar one look like toytown stuff

Yeah that was Big Red and Loose Wheel Nuts wasn't it?

I love the construction work that has gone into that race car Andy. It is not just down to expensive trick parts. A lot of thought has gone into the chassis construction. It's a lovely bit of kit. 8-)

Did you mean what does the jacking system run on? Andy plugs in a CO2 cylinder to activate it back in the pits.
