Thanks Jon and thanks for the offer too, the car isnt paid for yet but is being delivered wednesday and then the deal will be done.
The Mrs is fine about me getting a car, she like myself was not happy about taking cash out the bank and all the way to Cornwall to buy Kevins Bee especially after I got kicked in and robbed once.
Kevin would only sell the car to me for cash, hence why I didnt get the Bee it caused to many rowls over the money as i was prepared to take someone with me but because the money is in a joint account she had me by the nut sack. (note to self open another account) so basically thats what swung it the purchase being done at home.

I remember flying up to London twice to buy yanks with money sacks tied to my scrote to keep it out of sight!
Had four grand down my pants sat outside a dodgy north London tube station waiting for the 'man' to take me to the 1968 Mercury Cougar, he was all tattoos and hard, could have easily ripped me off.
Good as gold, his misses gave me sandwiches for the trip and the Mercury drove him without missing a beat.

thats what internet banking is for mate

you go see

with 500 as deposit

you get the MRS to internet bank the rest once happy

tell seller to phone his bank to make sure its in

go for a pub lunch
go back

you take ownership papers

drive it home or arrange pickup

no bags on yer nut sac

no cashiers cheques etc

takes about 2 hours on a week day for internet bank transfer using the faster payments scheme

ask your bank if they are part of fastrer payments

On the same topic of electronic banking.
Be aware that international bank transfers take longer. You are not "safe" accepting a transfer outside the UK for 24 hours after the money is showing in your account.

Why money transfered electronically from country to country takes longer is a mystery to me. But it does.

well i can't comment on which car to purchase and the choices made here,
carl will buy what he wants to buy

just that if i had an issue with carying the cash for a purchase i'd find another way, i would have used a method with different risks assocaited that was hopefully robust enough to keep the seller happy, and to mitigate againts the percieved risk that was impacting cash flow in the first place

thus putting mine and the wifes mind at rest regarding getting mugged or ripped off

i still like to pay cash, (but if my breif case and handcuffs were at the dry cleaners i'd find another way)

what i want to pay in one pocket and the rest of what he wanted in the other..so i don't go waving the full wad ruining any chance of negotiation...hard cash speaks even if its not quite enough

that why i never liked the big cheque from the bank

you have it for the full price and have to negotiate him giving back the difeerence if you get it for less than asking price

you kinda ruined your chances of doing a deal.

i as well could not give a horses ass which car he buys, but a few weeks ago was really excited about that fella holding the bee till he had his cash come through,.
but i know i would not take a car for someone to view unless they had put at least a k in my bank then its worth bein messed around
