Sorry Dave
I know you have asked before but I'm not taking any pics till its clean. Getting a bit manic about it. Took the bits out that have been lying on the floor for years today including a Billing aqua dome parking ticket from 2007 !!!!!
Won't be long mate !!!

Yes Steve.
Factory stuff as yours has. All good although probably give it another clear coat in summer.
Slap on the wrist for driving on salty roads but it was worth it to see the kids smiling and waving to everyone pointing at the car :)

Hopefully ( weather permitting )
I'm going to get a chance to start the clean up. I think I'm getting an OCD about this !!!!!
It's not so much the getting it clean but I think you get to know the car throughout.
Mmmm. Start clean Saturday. Drive Sunday :)
Can't rush cleaning. :D

Thats very true Gary.... You definately will get to know your car by fettling it! Good way of finding things like dodgy connections, perished bushes etc etc so probs can be found before they stop you using the car. Good idea ( as I learned recently) to go round all the earth points and clean/ check etc... All good harmless fun.... a bit of OCD is good!! :D :D

Well finally a proper clean after 2 years since spotting the old girl !
2 new rocker gaskets ( one still leaking . Bugger ) then a 50 mile round trip to show my mate.
Set off on journey with my son. Turned wipers on to clear screen 'pop' passenger wiper stops. Oh well need to stop for fuel so push wiper down and carry on.
Get to a set of lights and a fella next to me calls out "oi mate. If your petrol caps behind your plate its p**sing out "
Great. Stop at next garage to find perished rubber on cap.can you get replacement rubbers ??? Anyway. Flexi cap bought and installed and off we go. Laughing at how the car leans round bends !!!
All good till on the way home the heater control starts to buzz. Fan goes mental and tries to roast us !!!
Windows open and pushing buttons like crazy it finally stops.
We've both been well cooked so try to turn heat down. Nope. It's hot and that's it. Oh well. Another to do !!!
Here's a few pics now she's a bit cleaner.

She looks fantastic mate!! Shes very straight and those door ends etc look perfect.... Wish mine were that good! Little teething probs will give you a bit to get stuck into eh! I replaced the rubber in my original power steering pump with a home made one cut out of a bike inner tube. Just used the old one as a template and works perfectly. Maybe you could do the same on petrol cap??

Thanks for posting pics Gary.... They are spot on! :thumbright:

Great pics Gary those wheels look soooo much better on the car. Few minor teething problems, all part of the fun of owning these old cars mate.

Car looks nice and clean Gary! 8-)

Teething troubles are par for the course with an underused car!

For comparison after my car was delivered (i'm thankful i was talked out of driving it back 250 miles)!

Did 10 miles. Went to petrol station and shut it down and had it evacuated for 45 mins. Gasket on the tank sending unit gave way under fuel load! After looking the gasket, it was a roughly cut out old floor matt squished to suit!

AA Turn up with tools and gets the castle to just tighten and reduce the leak (i'd already lost £20's worth of fuel to the floor by then (it was Bananarama! out)!

Driveing home with AA following and the heavens open! Put it on 3 speed.......20 meters from home they both stop and i go blind in the rain!

Wiper linkage bushing had perished and gone brittle with age........full speed fubard it!

Its all part of the fun.....................But your doing the right thing in driving it. I've got loads to do to get it on the road and then will attempt a long drive to see it any other gremlins want to appear.

Regards the heater, it could be worse and be 25 deg, sunny and stuck on hot! ;) Always a bright side mate! :D

Now that's nice to see a more door cruising the streets that hasn't been set up as a cop car!

That's a belter Gary :thumbright:
