A year later I had a proper job and a Corsair that stood me in £350. A mate had a piece of Bananarama! '67 Barracuda Formula S, it was rusty, it smoked like a train but it had a 4 speed and an 8 3/4" sure grip. I couldn't swap the Corsair for it fast enough. It needed a ton of welding and filler to get it looking half decent. I rebuilt the 273 with headers and a hot cam, 4.30 gears, stripped it out, Centerline wheels and a fibreglass hood. Ran 13.7, which in 1980 was a pretty fast car. Kept it till '84 when I decided I needed a cleaner shell. Stripped it of all the stuff I wanted to keep and sold the rolling shell to a guy that left it in the street outside his house, until the council towed it away and crushed it.

So, armed with a few hundred quid me and Bish headed off to Belgium to find me a '69 Dart to put all my running gear into. We couldn't find a Dart but did come across a really tidy 6 cylinder '73 Duster for £300 so we drove that home. I set about swapping in all the Barracuda's running gear, but somewhere along the line the 273 and 4 speed got sold to be replaced by a tunnel rammed 383 and 18 spline B body 4 speed. That car was a real hoot, ran 11.8 and was a real hand full on the street. I should have left it at that...

Dave wrote:Tony's Duster was a lovely car. Liked that one myself. Very nearly a muscle car. :thumbright:
Thanks :thumbright:

But we all know that for a Mopar to be a Muscle Car it needs to be born an R/T with a Hemi or a 440+6 to be Muscle  :D

Started off with the green Duster, bought from Dave Madders then sold it on to Tony.
Within a few months missed having a car so started looking and bought my 71 Dart from Dave Madders again the following summer.
These are the pictures Dave sent me of the car in California.

My first was a 67 notchback mustang with a 71 351 clevland shoehorned in, painted bumpers & a bit rough, if I found a pic & posted it on here, 'hard as nails' you would cry but 'rotten as a pear' I remember it as, still at school, in sixth form, no insurance & a fake tax disc, didnt matter as much back then...
Then a well rough 76 corvette which I tarted up & had for years then sold as Id bought my pals really nice 76 vet. B body mopars were still far to much money.
Years later bought a 69 318 satillite which was a really nice survivor & joined up here & was really sucked in...one b body after another
