Cooters in Gatlinburg is just what you see in the photos. The cars and the small museum (converted garage). They have a load of photos, costumes and scripts etc and a big tv showing episodes. It's a glorified shop for Cooters Place merchandise but I loved it. The have a big yellow fridge which had been signed by all the cast members. The new store in Nashville was just that a store, (The photo of the General Towing truck was taken outside so you can see the kind of unit they have) but had to pop in as they were newly opened and bought an 01 plate autographed by Ben Jones and a t-shirt. I thought it was worth the effort as the rest of Gatlinburg was cool, (they have a Cars from the Movies museum too,Charlies Angels 69 Camaro, Herbie, Back to the Future etc) if a bit of a tourist trap on the edge of the Smokey Mountains.

Ahh, those pics have whetted my appetite!
Stu, me & friends Paul & Andy (Blue will know them) are off to the IHRA World Finals at Rockingham (North Carolina) & World Street Finals in Orlando next week.
Should have some pics & a few stories from our own Road Trip in a coupla weeks for y'all.
Not quite as much driving as you've done autoholic, basically from Orlando to North Carolina for the 1st weekend and back to Orlando for the 2nd.
Will be my 1st 'car trip' to the States with mates for 16 years (been married nearly 13, coincidence?), will miss the family lots but will have one huge laff and enjoy every minute of it!!
Accommodation? Motel 6 & Jeff's villa!
Car rental? Dunno yet, whatever fits 4 blokes + luggage + more luggage on the way back.

Rebel. No problem mate. If you have any other travel questions feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help, no worries.

Oh and Rob... Have a great time but stay away from the Howard Johnson at the top end of International Drive... unless you like Irish pubs blaring out till 1 in the morning!! Looking forward to the pics, but remember the site is moderated!! :D

And one last thing, pick up the annoying welcome booklets in the hotel and shops as they have a bunch of vouchers for discounts. Got a free starter at Race Rock with 2 main courses... Mmmmm Nachos!! 8)

I'll make sure I got me pockets stuffed with discount vouchers, tho gawd knows what it'll be like trying to get served in there on a night like that!

Dont know if I'll be takin any pics that will be censored by Alex - dont think you can take cameras in those places?

But the IHRA meet is sponsored by Hooters so there may be a few cuties around in the background of some car pics

Forget dining in there on the Thursday eve as its full of race teams who only meet up once a year by the look of all the hand shaking and back slapping that goes on!!
Be sure to get there by 4.00 to see the 6 second cars cruising the I drive with a police escort(open headers and slix mandatory)
And stay till they all leave the car park about 8-9ish,its some sight to see.My wife would not miss that for the world and she does not even go to the Speedworld!!!!Roll on next week  8) 8)

Yes Rich, its a date!
Will you be wearing a carnation or summat? I'll be the one in the t-shirt with some sort of car design on it.
Will def try to be there for 4pm and stay till the end, as long as we can get some grub in that time as well... :occasion5:
