I KNOW ITS AN ASK BUT I WOULD BE TEMPTED TO GRIND THE EDGES OF THE MANIFOLD RATHER THAN THE COVERS
Thanks for the reply Dunc.
That did cross my mind but I thought it strange to have cast it like they are if it wasn't needed ( the manifold )???
The Edelbrock covers seem to be made with the cut out. If not some one has done a bloody good job !!!

Yes, I've come across this sort of carry on before, if you grind anything, make it the intake. Another fix is to use 2 valve cover gaskets and longer bolts.

Does that work Blue ?
I suppose with a good sealant between the two gaskets ?

I went against everyone's advice and modified the covers. Well, a nice man at Rolls Royce did !
Fit lovely. No leaks and you would only notice the modification if you looked for it.
Now just to clean all the oil from the inner arches from the old covers.
I did buy a matching air cleaner but thought it was too much. So the truck got a prezzy and the Coronet got the truck one for now.
