1970 Challenger 440 - sublime

Post by Sublime For 40 »

Jim Smith recently posted some pictures of our two '70's side by side and it made me question whether I had ever put an image on the Forum or not . . so, after nearly a year of MMA membership, here it is.

I picked this one as I'm pretty damn sure that this version has not seen the light of day before. My Mum appears courtesy of Saga . . as do I, now I come to think of it.

No prizes for spotting the spelling mistake - anyone else got a 'Challener' ?!

Lovely car Matt, are you at Brooklands or the Euronats with it?
I'm a big fan of that R/T side stripe, looks ace with the popping colour ;)

Clarification ; I originally spelled Challenger without the 'g' in the main title and was directed on how to edit it - which I did. Hence some of the 'jolly' banter.

The side stripes are 1971 - not 1970 . . but my take on that is that they look better (probably what the Dodge Design Studio thought as well) and so when they came out, I just had to have them . . even though I was only 10 years old and lived in Shropshire and not L.A. . . .

I keep thinking a (black) vinyl roof would look good but the sail panel bright trim seems rarer than hen's teeth . . unless someone knows different ?

No vinyl roof, I think it is perfect the way it is, but thats just my opinion.

Thanks Carl - that's why I'm torn between BVR and No BVR . . .

Perhaps I ought to tape some black bin liners to it just to see what it looks like ! The thing that does bother me is that the bright trim becomes a great rust trap if you're not very careful and it's not a very 'reversible' mod' if it goes sort of pear-shaped.

That's why I'm favouring the 'leave it alone' approach.

And a roof re-paint when you take it off. And then match the paint.
