Transmission cooler lines - fitting sizes?

Post by Pete »

This post could go wonky best as I may well not have standard size fittings, but here goes.

I am looking for a male to male connector to bridge a couple of cooling lines.

At present the male fitting in the transmission case is a 9/16" spanner size (not very helpful, I know...) and I am sure that is much larger than stock.

I need to connect two lines together and I was hoping they were AN-6AN, but they are smaller than that.

Clearly they could be AN-4AN, but I think the threads may be UNF or some thing else.

They are not tapered and look the same in appearance to an AN Male fitting.

Does anyone know what thread pattern and size are used on transmission lines?

Thanks in advance.

Pete

The stock fitting in the side of the trans should be 1/8th NPT to 5/16 flare, and the radiator fittings can be either the same or 1/4 NPT to 5/16 flare.

Thanks Dave!
5/16" Flare?

I assume that is UNF?

So, I want a 5/16" UNF Flare Male to Male?

Thanks

Thanks Duncan.

One of the lines is solid with a female connection on, and the other end is a rubber flexi-hose with a female connection if that makes sense.

Just looked at Speedflow and a 5/16" to 5/16" Male to Male seems to be made of unobtainium.....

Thank you for all your help.

UPDATE - got the fittings today and they are wrong....too small.

Looks like I need 1/2" UNF Male - to 1/2" UNF Male.

Am I right in thinking this is really just an AN-8AN fitting???

Am I right on the thread size and type here?

Would make ordering a lot easier........

Any ideas, please?

Thanks.
