Sorry to hear this Pete. At least the heads survived undamaged. The tungsten should have been cross pinned or threaded into the crank, but I guess you know that now.

Pete I am gutted for you, it must make you feel like giving up.

I can't believe that happened, Mallory is used all the time - now I'm worried about my crank!! (although if an engine never runs, it will never come out......

).

Anyway, that is seriously bad news and I feel your pain!!!

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I think this particular blow up was outside of my control....

All I need to fix it is a good 440 block, a crank, a set of rods, and 8 hemi pistons, and possibly a cam; and loads of machining and a company that can actually balance the reciprocating assembly with the small hope that it will stay in one piece for more than 5 runs......

It's too early to say what I am going to do, but it is not a quick fix and I am minded to sell the conversion parts on..........I don't think I can go through it again with all the other things that are going on...

Not only the cost but the man hours and hurdles encountered during the build up. Hope you get something sorted soon

makes you feel like giving up when this sort of things happen & just becoming a spectator or trying a less risky/cheaper hobby.

Dont sell off your good gear Pete, sit on it for a few weeks & let time heal I bet you will be back, its in our blood.

That's awful bad news Pete. It's the destroying of the optimism that must hurt: all that effort and an unforeseen mechanical failure must be gutting.

I will donate my old cam if it helps, I will look up the spec. I am away till Friday week, so will have to wait till then.

I have some good rings (4.500" Bore) brand new, just not good for a Turbo motor. I guessing they may not be of any use, but if you can sell on & take the cash, fine with me.

If I can help hand carry any parts (Not Cranks

) from the US, drop me a line. Pistons, Rods, Rings, etc let me know what you are intending to buy before hand. I can get delivered to my mate & collect from him or direct to my hotel. Free postage, less the dreaded can help...
