Ah druids, that was my favourite challenge, took about 3 laps to get it to a fine art, in to it flat out, hard on the brakes at the last minute to unload the rear end, drop a cog and power out, mind you, who ever filmed it missed the one when I over did it and went side on with full opposite lock and nearly buggered it completely ha ha :help: Many thanks for posting Rich

Been busy, just on here now since event, I can see Don enjoyed driving his bird as much as everbody enjoyed seeing it !
Heres my race orientated view of the weekend:
What a top event, ive never seen so many people in the top paddock @ brands hatch.
Same date next year
Not just the no of classic cars, but the quality of them, there were so many seriously nice cars to look on the sunday without the time to do so.

Full house for Bernies V8's, no more cars allowed
I spannered on Al Weymans yellow camero, which to be polite is not the way Id have a race car & it ran like a pile of sh... almost last in both races & helped Phill Waller in his newly built & very well turned out maverick grabber but this was having overheating problems.
On the other end of the scale Craig Davies had his real deal GT350 with 10000 rpm 289 scremer, Ive raced Craig lots in his BTCC RS500 & he is really competitive, 7th in qually, but first american muscle car
For the race 1 was inside the pits where you can see both side of the circuit, the catch fence was filled all the way around & there was not a spare seat in the paddock hill grandstand.
Maverick came into the pits overheating almost straight away, then greg rose (who used to own my falcon) spotted craig had a possible slow puncture & got ready for pit stop, tyres was changed super quick, wow ! (they do endurance racing with Craig & luckily practise this sort of thing ALOT), Craig finshed 17th out of 30 + out there so not bad having to waste so much time changing a wheel
There was a massive differnce in speeds between the leaders & the stragglers & with brands Indy been smaller it was a very busy track
Some sight to Pete Halfords proper Boss 302 in action & Smeet's challenger
Here are the results
http://www.tsl-timing.com/?loc=club&sea ... tid=132351
Race 2, Craig was on a mission to pass the Pirana Capri he was battling with in race 1 before the puncture, just watch the in car here :

To hard for the first few laps did his tyres in so unable to pass the capri, but still finshed 4th overall, the maverick & yellow camero were a disaster in race 2 as well.

Left before the parade as had been camping all weekend with only tee shirt on (forecast was 20+ sun! so no jumper of coat) & was freezing (not very often us geordie boys say that)
Top weekend

smeets had a right battle in race 2 with 2 cameros which resulted in one camero spinning & the challenger on the grass doing a half spin.

Nicked this from the Corvette forum;

Just in case some of us are unaware this event is provisionally on for weekend of 7/8 June 2014. Just got off the phone from talking with Bernie Chodosh who organises Bernies HRVS (historic racing v8 series) and it seems as though the Brands Hatch organisers of the Speedfest were pleasantly surprised by the response, numbers of american cars attending and the general enthusiasm of everyone that went - so who knows, perhaps we can look forward to similar events in future. Bernie is trying to persuade the organisers to have a 'noisy' race day with unsilenced V8's. His plans next year for the HRVS will be to have perhaps three race meetings over the year - the idea being that these will be bigger and more 'full on' events (I guess also giving the car owners a bit more time between race meetings to repair and fettle their cars) Hopefully we will also see free entry for American car owners who attend with one or more paying passengers.
