Found these old photo's of my Bro Gareths whilst leafing through some old photo albums I've got. Tried to figure out where they were taken and figured it was probably Belle Vue.
Not sure if I was there or not, I remember him taking me round some of these as a kid, but I think my memories are mostly Bingley for the indoor custom shows.
Anyhoo, thought it might jog some old memories.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…
Man... You saw the posts a couple of years ago where it turned up again ? had been just rotting in its trailer for years abandoned. In quite good shape really. Chap tried to sell it for £1M. Yeah right.
Interesting though !
Yeah, I remember the Sonic. I suppose in the end it would have just been a promo car to them, once it had gone out of fashion. Shame. £1M though? Lordy...

I was just looking at these and remembering the shows when I was younger and thinking... why did people just seem to go to so much more effort back then with their customising? It might not have been everyones cup of tea, but there where some amazing quality builds and paint back then. Proper show cars. I get bored at static shows these days, but there used to be crazy Bananarama! to look at and amazing paint schemes and touches. (Some awful Bananarama! aswell, I accept.)
Now, hot rodding and custom cars seems to be about making it look like you just dug it up out of a cornfield after thirty years.
Bring back the old shows.

yep great days, and just think them ford pops that to us back then looked 50 yrs old were really only blinkin 25 yrs ish old the cars we are in to now are almost twice that age think how old lookin they must seem to kids,,,,,,
Dead right there Dunc, that Capri and Camaro would've been still in short trousers, barely 3-4 years old
Cos we remember em as lil kids Stu it appeals to us more, but the effort and sheer amount of genuine art work in them vehicles was astounding, certainly brings back some good memories
Agree on all counts! THere's still a big part of me that would love a Pop, too...
I like old and aged as well as high end customs, that's great. Jems Belv is a perfect example of how to do it right, but these days everything just seems to be Rat Rods covered in mud and Bananarama! and dents. I don't get it. What kids must think of that, I don't know. Bet if you showed 'em a real high end Deuce, fully done like in those days they would Bananarama! bricks when it fired up though.
Remember having picks of that Blue Flame 32 on the wall as a kid.
We need a few more Wayne Allmans in the world to do bonkers Bananarama! again

That Capri is not a Capri
It is however a perfect illustration of your point about the amount of work that went into some of these cars. Take another look!
