Yet more Speedfest pics...

Post by RobTwin »

Just in case you havent already overdosed on Speedfest pics, here's a few of mine, and a few of Stu's at the end, of the parade laps, taken from in Paul's GTO.

Had a good journey down - meeting Dave 'Longshot' at 7am (ish) at South Mimms on the M25 helped beat some of the traffic that we were worried about getting caught up in. Dave still managed to boil over (well, the Dart did :) ) though, just as we pulled off the M25 on to the A2, but he still got there before the great unwashed turned up for the 9am opening. We only had to queue for 5 mins or so at the entrance, but that was only cos they still appeared to be working out the best way to get (potentially) thousands of American cars in thru the single-lane main entrance

My lad took the first few pics on the M25, as we were overtaken by a gaggle of Mustangs...... must remember to teach him how to hold the camera still while in a moving car :help: Gives you an idea tho :)

Hope there's a few here you havent seen in all the others posted so far.....

Thanks for all the thanks, chaps :)

I meant to say (by way of an excuse!)..... I did try taking some pics of the Bernie's V8 race but both times we were standing near our parking area, which is behind some quite heavy-duty fencing overlooking the main pit straight, so getting clear pics of the cars was a non-starter.
We did go a wander round the track and got a clearer view of some other races (like the 2nd EuroNascar, or whatever they call it, pictured) but also missed Don's demo lap while we were queueing for drinks and talking to Brian & Julie Pateman behind the grandstand

Hopefully next year I'll find a better vantage point for the more interesting races/cars.....

She was an accident waiting to happen. If it had been my wife or her sister that jumped in the drivers seat I doubt they would have stopped the car from running over her. As it happened I braked fast enough to only give her a nudge. But she is so unsteady on her feet cos of her parkinsons (that she wouldn't admit to and she shouldn' have be driving at all it turns out) she just went flying over.

Now she is in hospital it is all coming out. She has loads of "issues" her family were totally unaware of. Considering she drives her grandchildren around I think it was probably for the best that she is now off her feet.

Turns out that the reason she has had "a flat battery" so many times is because she often parks the car with it still in gear. So it will not start of course. The penny dropped when she mentioned the other day she often can't get the key out of the ignition. On this occasion though she left it running in reverse with the handbrake half on.
