Thanks Blue, I was slightly concerned for about a minute, but as Pete will have guessed I've already bolted it all together :thumbright:
I Scotchbrited the faces and thoroughly de-greased and cleaned everything.
I had to drill and tap one bellhousing bolt-hole 1/2" deeper as the threads were knackered.
I took the reverse light switch out to replace the fibre washer and realised it was also leaking THROUGH the switch- I cleaned out the recesses around the connector blades and filled em with araldite.

New fluid in and the clutch & gearbox are done :thumbright:
While the car's up I figured I'd do the oil and filter too. As it's also leaking slightly I dropped the sump. An easy job on my car- just loosen the steering rack and drop one end and off comes the pan :D
Nothing nasty in there so I gave it a good clean and flattened the flanges a bit. The end seals are split so I couldn't just re-fit it and I left it too late to order gaskets for tomorrow so the car will be laid up til Monday now :( A frustrating waste of 3 days potential tuning-time :x

Just added 1/2" preload to the front shocks, lets see if that stops it bottoming out in potholes
While under there I noticed a loose disc bolt
All out, Loctited and cranked up tight :thumbright:

Today's tinkering involved finding out a sump gasket set would sting me £50 if want it before the end of next week
I've cleaned up the old ones and plenty of good quality silicone... sorted!

Full harness is in, including the removable centre bar.
I made a box to protect the fuel pump etc from all the crap I'll be taking to the Pod... and stuck on me race numbers :D

Just back from 1st sesh, didn't get far
NO idle circuit, AFR 20, idle mix screws have no effect, neither does fiddling with pri or sec throttle stop screws.
Ade went through possible causes with me, we reckon most likely cause is a blockage or a leak in the primary idle area.
Gonna take carb off now & check it over again.
Also clutch barely releasing so I'll adjust it up a bit.

More later....

Getting much better now.
I checked the timing, initial is unchanged at 22, max is 35.

On Ade's advice I've re-connected the vac advance, though without help I've not been able to check what that's done to the timing.

I've played around with jets and then pump cams and at times it pulled incredibly well!
If can just pin down the right combo she's gonna fly! :D

Just found this very helpful vid-

Well last nights tuning session was mostly a frustrating waste of an evening and a heap of petrol! I got home still with a massive off-idle hole which just seemed if anything to be getting worse!

Luckily a mate I'd not seen in ages (happens to be a pro mechanic) was just passing and spotted the car. I bored him with my woes and he only sussed a new fault- the primary pump ball check valve not seating properly.
Pressing the accelerator slowly as in mild acceleration just pushed fuel back into the float bowl so bugger-all came out of the shooters!! This would also have delayed the shot on harder acceleration.
I've gone back to the 750 vac float bowl for now, I'll fix that another day.

Well I'll have help tonight so I've big hopes!! [-o<

YEAH!!!!

Running like a dream :D

My mate Gegs (he's coming with me to the Nats) came out and helped me stay focussed and we got the carb fully dialled in.

It now revs cleanly right through the rev range and goes like stink!!
I'm sure there's room for some fine tuning but it's pretty damn close now :D

We ended up with 72 primary, 80 secondary. EXACTLY what Les said about 15 pages ago
I've been gathering stuff to take, not sure what I'm gonna do with it all once we're there tho...
