Sure is quiet here with everyone at the Pod ,we are watching here in the States , looks like a blast.

Question ,how long have they been drag racing at the pod ? how many years?

Hi Drew.
In 1965 there were plans for a permanent strip at the pod. I think the first race meeting was Easter 1966.

There is a great book called "Crazy Horses". The history of British drag racing. It's Author is Brian Taylor. It's published by Haynes so may be available over the pond ??
It's an excellent book which I think you would find very interesting :thumbright:

Yea in '65 it was pretty much a disused airstrip, by '85 it still hadn't changed much  Most of what you see there now has happened in the last 12 years or so. Some of the big name American drivers used to bring there cars over and race in the early days, Garlits, Prudhomme, Sox & Martin, Stone woods & Cook, Sammy Miller and that nutter EJ Potter to name a few. Don't suppose todays superstars would be interested in coming over, even if the Pod could afford them...
