DB I love this car you have nailed together....Sorry to see the damage...I will tell you a story about a 289 ford engine I built many years ago ,,,triple valves springs are not a good idea with stock pushrods and pressed steel lifters...I never even got of the drive with that one :? Take your time sorting this out ,,, do your homework ,compatible springs with cam, installed spring height and seat pressure,,,and buy some good pushrods ....Guy gives some sound advice on locks etc ,,,,Do you run an msd6???keep an eye out for an msd 3....If you plan on hitting the strip the 3 step is your best option for engine insurance ,,,they turn up second hand on Eurodragster ......I have an installed spring height tool if you want to borrow it,,,don,t give up mate we have all been there ... :thumbright:

Thanks Pete, appreciate the advice.
The valve-train was well built initially, put together by Blue or Alex I think- the other Pete W may remember ;)
It has Barton-ported Indy heads, offset Indy roller rockers, Smith bros special length pushrods, not sure of specs on springs or retainers.
I'd like to measure the springs but I've no idea what they should be.

Ignition is an FBO unit, but the older one with no rev limiter  I was going to go MSD6AL but I'm a bit put off after Pete's recent failures!! I'll look into MSD3 though, don't know about them.

Don't worry mate, there's no danger of me giving up, I love it even when it's broke :D

Paul I think my mate EJ has a photo of you launching you might find interesting...plume of smoke underneath very clear. I'll get him to email it to me and try to post up tomorrow.

I agree - at the time I thought the car was over-fueling; but I was not aware of DB's "mis-hap" at the time.............

This vid (poached from Eurodrag) seems to support clutch fail... (jump to 40 secs if you don't want to sit through the embarrassing burnout stall  )

Dave and Pete- I can hear you muttering 'told you so' from here :P

It will drive like a Bear trap.

Ask Blue.

He had a nice chat with the gent who owns "Crowd Pleaser".

He will tell you what you need to get off the line without breaking on a repeatable basis - also dropping the clutch at over 7K
