What is this?

Can anyone tell me what the cylindrical thing fastened to the back of my instrument panel is? It has a black wire coming out of one end with a spade terminal on it. Terminal was not fixed to anything as far as I know. Car is a 69 Roadrunner. I have attached pic (sorry about quality). thanks in advance.......Chris.

JESUS ME EYES!

You could have made the image smaller. The quality would look OK then. I am using a 1280x1024 resolution on this monitor so I pity the poor souls trying to look at that with 800x600 screens.

Use Irfanview (free download) to set the pixel size to 800x600 to stop my eyes from going in opposite directions trying to take it in.

Any way it looked like some sort of radio suppression capacitor.
Christ me eyes are still goin funny.....

It is a radio suppresor, it pushes into one of the terminals that the voltage reg uses, you sort of put the spade in the terminal then push the volt reg in and it slides along side it...

thanks for the info, especially about the picture size. I am still amazed at the speed of peoples replies. On other boards I have used I would be waiting days. Thanks again.
