Well after my Nats exploits as reported on the other thread, the Belve is relaxing and enjoying some downtime while I save up for valvetrain repairs, a beefed-up clutch and a rev-limiter
Never one to sit still, the big news is... I'M PAINTING THE CAR
I was cleaning off all the rust that developed since the Santa Pod trip and got to thinking 'buggered if I can be bothered doing this again!!'
So once the rust is all off i'll break out the Deox gel to be certain there's NO rust, patch up my rear arches, bit o' lead loading and slap some primer on it.
Hopefully it will go to my mate for actual paint & lacquer so I don't make a total ar5e of it but we'll see what cashflow allows.
There, I've said it in public now so there's no going back

No-one will believe you...
Do you want a holiday in Wales Drew?
I hate it, I get impatient and try to hurry things. Doesn't really work with painting
Luckily as the car's immobilised I don't feel pressured to get it done so I'll try to be good, take my time and do at least a half-decent job.
It's staying the original colour mate- it's sort of maroon/ burgundy, same as the interior.

My original plan was black but it really wouldn't suit the interior.
Silver would look great and go really well with the interior but there's an awful lot of silver cars about... not yanks but modern stuff, it's like every 3rd bloody car in N Wales is silver!! So that's put me off it tbh, it's even part of my reason for painting it cos it looks silver from a distance now!
So, burgundy.
If it wasn't the original colour I wouldn't even consider it, but the interior is already there, I've already bought the paint and well, Mother Mopar knows best.... it's a done deal!

Hell yea I would , be a fun time ,the Original Burgundy /maroon is a nice color nobody seems to do that shade any more

I'm certainly doing all the prep, primer, masking, etc. I.E. all the unskilled but time-consuming stuff. My mate Steve (he painted my bikes) will give me a price to just colour and lacquer.charger01 wrote:Are you painting it Paul ?
If I can't find the cash then I'll be spraying

The car's stripped now. I'm still wire-wheeling a bit each day to remove the surface rust. I'll try to start on repairing the rear arches tomorrow, I have new panels- a passenger-side lower rear section and a driver-side full arch to replace the damaged bits. They're Bananarama!-poor quality so will test all my panel-beating and welding skills well past their limit!
