I got my front bumpers re-chromed at a place called
Marque Restore Chrome Plating Ltd.
Unit 4 Shilton Industrial Estate
Bulkington Road
Coventry

Can't fault them except they took 3 months to get them done even though they told me 6 weeks.

Avoid Ashford Chrome, I have only ever heard very bad things about them !!!Charged67 wrote:Guys, I'm looking for a good place to re-chrome some, trim and bumpers and door frames, Found a place in Ashford but shiiat they are expensive!!

Did you guys have to prepare the parts for chroming yourselves, like dents, pits, surface rust, etc.?
I have a contact for chrome platers in Suffolk (good in the classic car scene - details from a Triumph TR6 owner) but apparently they wont take anything in unless it's all prep'd...

Thanks guys, must admit I looked at some of Ashfords work and the plating was outstanding quality. Issue I have is that there original quote was in the region of £1500- waited for the final quote after inspection and I'm up just shy of 4800!
I'm off on hold Friday but I will swing by Ashford on the way back from gatwick and pick it all up next week. Pain in the butt- I only want to finish the old girl and get back on my yanks!

Chrome plating is bloody expensive these days.
Remember watching classic car SOS and he had 4 dog dishes and a few small bucket full of trim piece's.......Over £800 for that lot, so i'd not be surprised if a bumper is in that region on its own.

This is what i'll be using on my spare rear bumper....Should be about 1/4 of the price.V8 Sam wrote:there is always that chrome wrap?
However id i was redoing the whole car or more specifically, body hugging brightwork, i'd want it done properly.
Otherwise i'd always have that nagging feeling of 'cheap fix' when driving.
Bumpers..........yes, trim/fixings..........No.
Of course thats just my personal opinion......I will however agree that the thought of spending nearly £5k on just chrome work.........
