It will be interesting as many club members have recently moved to RH - it will be a test to see how they perform when they have to step up to the plate..............

WOULD MOST OF US JUST spend a few hrs and get it sorted out seems a bit trivial for an insurance claim to me,,,,,

I'm right with ya Dunc ;)
Wouldn't let any cock I didn't know touch my wheels and would just do it myself. I had an electrical fire just after I'd fitted a Painless loom that was tampered with by some Bananarama! at my nephews garage, punched his jaw quite hard and fixed it meself :D
No claim needed

I agree with that, save the hassle of claiming and arguing about a few hundred quid.

wrong, id be aiming for value of the car less a little bit for keeping the salvage, yes most of us here could fix it for a few hundred quid and a lot of time & effort, where as an insurance comp would spend ££££ getting this done

how the heck can you go after getting the car as basically a write of for something so minor, no wonder my insurance is a fortune

my runner set on fire whilst i left it ticking over on the drive luckily i spotted the flames coming out of the hoodscoop and had a hose pipe nearby, it did pretty much the same damage burnt hoses plug leads torched hood pretty much the same deal an afternoon it was all sorted, good luck with whatever you do but crikey its like really takin the slash considering how little the insurance costs on this type of car. yes major burn like poor old derek had or bad accident damage, to be honest it never even crossed my mind to think about an insurance job on mine,

That maybe true, but seems like a legitimate claim to me.

Dunc,
Don't forget some folks have the skills to rectify, some don't, what some seem as major, others may think of as minor.

Plus things always seem worse at 1st, once the car has been washed & cleaned, he will be able to assess the true damage.

I only ever claim for damage if a car is bent, a write off or involving another vehicle.

I got the recent minor damage to the front of my Corvette done on the insurance recently only because the other guy was claiming against my insurance anyway.

I had an under hood fire on my Challenger once. Lucky for me I got it out quick and only scorched and blackened the underside of the hood and top of the engine. Not long after I first got the car as it happens. In the days when I didn't know they were not supposed to stink of fuel and fumes.

The fire Wayne had in his Challenger on the way to the Nats from Dublin was bad enough for the fire brigade to be called and they closed the petrol station.

He still got there.

I fixed the flooding carb that caused it. He bought new ignition leads. It got him home. Insurance company not involved.

Gotta say chaps, bit shocked by some of the replies.....Understand that for some of you it would be an easy fix with parts you have, people you know, but is this not the exact reason we have insurance???

A small scuff in a carpark of the garage door is one thing, but fire damage, extinguisher damage is another!

If i was in his position i'd be doing exactly the same!

I've paid for insurance on every car i've ever had and not once claimed. In all probability i've spent nearly £10k on insurance, and taken £0k out.

Its false Whiplash, no insurance and accident management companies that have pushed everyones insurance up.....Not legitimate claims like this!

I wanna go so FAST i think i'm going to DIE!..........Then i'll shift into second!

Agree entirely with this. Over inflated and fraudelent claims are sending premiums through the roof. These very low premiums, really help offset the other running costs of these old cars.

Sad to see this and hope you get it sorted quick.

As said it would be good to see how quick RH deal with this.

Good luck
