Help with wiring

Post by kev73dart »

Hi All

Well my Duster is now road legal and progressing.
TTI Headers and new exhaust system fitted - sounds awesome!

Now I need to sort the dash cluster. When I pulled it out today the wiper switch was made up of individual wires rather than a plug and they all pulled off so I now have no clue what goes where!

Also the circular multi pin connector that goes to the back of the cluster, there are 9 pins on the cluster but 8 pins on the connector, and one pin (black wire) hanging loose and taped up.

My reason for removing is nothing worked!

All help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Kev

You need to get hold of wiring diagram for the car and if the cables are original then you can follow by colours of cables and see what goes were.

Otherwise it all guess work.

Good luck.

Kev, I really would get a factory workshop manual on CD, it helped no end with my electrical problems.
As for the wiper, it may well depend on whether it is a two/three/variable speed as to which wire do what.
I do have a colour diagram for 73 Charger so it would be similar. If you are really stuck I could check against it, but I suspect it would be inconclusive. Just checked and it shows six wires coming off. How many on yours?

Four of those connect to the wiper motor
Blue
Green
Orange
Brown but this is initially yellow from the sitch until the bulkhead connector!

The actual brown wire from the switch goes to the washers according to my diagram
Good luck!

Black is hand brake switch, it was damaged and wouldn't go in easily.
The bezel came without a switch or plug, i managed to get a switch but couldn't locate a plug that fit.
Give me the numbers off the back of the switch and i'll tell you where they go.

Mick - I didn't bother you because it was my own daft fault for not taking mor care when I took the cluster out!

Will post some pics of the new Headers & exhaust later.
