New truck....

Post by Jeff »

Dunno if this is the right board for me now.... As I have just bought a Chevy.

It is a 1973 stepside..... Paid just $2000 for it, and seems to be a rust free example, will be getting it to the shop on Monday or Tuesday.

Will then tear it down and get it ready for paint. Can happily post pics here if you guys want... Metal is metal, right?

Your worse than a Butterfly Jeff :D

I never know what your chasing after, by the time I have got to the end of one of your threads, a new thread & vehicle has started 8-)

Good luck with your truck :thumbright:

Well, at least I have finally got something eh Mark? It is a very cheap start. Not a Mopar, but hey, I have something to play with. I hope when it is finished, it will bring in some more work, so I can go out and buy that Mopar! :thumbright:

If it's going to be a rolling advert, what are your paint plans, Jeff? Is it still Without Malice?

I have no doubt that the paint on this truck will be its most stand out feature - not a bad plan!!!

Have not decided on colours yet. But there will be a lot of flake and candy. That is for sure. Once the car is in the shop. I will sit down for a few hours and think. Oh and it will all be in the new water based paints.

Well this is the same truck as I just got, And probably the stance I want, not too low! Just right.
And those 10x15 rims go in without any modification.

1st day at the shop with it today. It was delivered on a low loader this morning...... Fired it up, all OK.. Drove it around the lot for a bit, all OK. Got in up on the lift, underneath is all OK. Now the rear fenders were in the bed of the truck. Took them out, offered them up. Wah? They did not line up with holes in bed..... It has a 50's bed on it from a GMC!

Not a problem, they are the same dimension and size, just means a little fettling to do... Hood latch is in need of work. So far they are the only problems. Not bad eh?

Also found it has a Quadrajet.

B&M Pro stick shifter.

Weld wheels on the front, and American Racing on the back, all new rubber.

So Wednesday, fenders on, bed moved forward slightly. Then many hours of panel gap fettling.

Forgot to take camera. Oops. Below is side shot, of how it should look...

This could end up being the first workshop thread ever to not include a single shot of the actual vehicle.
