Paint Match - calling in the pro's

Post by Anonymous »

Dear all,

i have unfortunately have been side swiped by some bugger in my parking area and it has caused a dent(creased) and obviously needs repairing.(i've got them on cctv..so no worries)

(pictures to follow)

my problem is this:

Is it possible in this day and age to get an exact colour match on custom paint without knowing the A)previous owner or B)sprayer??...what i'm trying to say is...... does anyperson/technology exsist to know the breakdown of formula/colour..without going for a full respray?

who are the best people to talk to in this situation??

I believe my paint is a house of kolor mix/almost candy!!..anybody with previous experience of these paints.
cheers

As Jeff says HoK stuff is readily available and if you kniow it's their material, you are laughing.

However, any of the leading paint companies can match your car accurately...unless you've done "a Blue" of course and gone a bit whacky with the Spindrift and Vreeble!

Take your car to John Castleman and Andy at JPC refinishing. They are near Cranleigh which is near Horsham.

Their work is excellent, which is why my car is there for the full bifter, and they have a whole heap of cool Mopars there for some serious work (not just the odd touch up). Have a Look at the piccs in Phil440's thread in the members section.

Dont bother hunting around for other places, if you want a good job, look no further.

Yep listen to your Uncle Clivey, you won't find many in the South East better than John Castleman at JPC, he's a real enthusiast and his blokes produce top work.

They use Glasurit materials which can match most of the custom finishes, but as Jeff says there's a lot to be said for using the original material if it is finished using HoK stuff.

OK... I have the HoK swatches in front of me! Oranges are....

BC-08 Nova Orange Shimrin Glamour Mettalic.
FBC-08 Nova Orange Shimrin Fine Mettalic.

SG-103 Molly Orange. Non metallic.

Above colours are 1 coat base, plus clear.

If it is a pearl finish...

PBC-32 Tangelo Pearl
PBC-64 Ultra Orange Pearl

If it is a Kandy...

UK-8 Tangerine.

There are other Kandys that look orange, depending on base colour / type used!

If it is a Kandy, it is a harder match. There are 12 base colours.

Can you send me a chip of paint, I can look under correct lighting conditions for visual match.

I can also place under my spectroscope.

If it is a HoK colour, it will be a good start point for a match.
