Disc Brake Conversion

Post by yabadaba »

Guys, I want to convert my 66 Polara to disc brakes. I've heard that suitable donor systems can be sourced from 71/72 disc cars. does anyone know whether this is correct and the details on what exactly I'd need?

Cheers

Just remember that many E and B body brake parts do not fit the C body.

Well they DO fit but some stuff like the steering knuckles (spindles) are a different height and so using spindles from a B body will change the steering geometry as there is a height difference.

"C" body spindles are larger and physically stronger.

I would just buy an after market upgrade kit to be safe.....

It always amazes me that A - B - C - E bodies share the same Control Arm bushes, how does that work???

There's a full set of brake parts out there. IF Mr Runner/JC are breaking the damaged car.

No takers for any of my brake bits so almost any offers will be good...

Calipers are 70's A-body
Brackets are for pin calipers though.

Shame the calipers dont look to fit my 73 Chally, or I would have them, as i will need a usable pair. Mine are sliding type but different part numbers. :(

Hi Matt. I think (?) that all the slider calipers are the same overall size, but the piston diameter varied slightly over the years. If you want to try them for size I can just post them over.
