That reminds me Mick of me doing a mobile disco job around 1980-ish in a house, I sold around 70 quids worth of Soul singles that night to a collector, who wasn't taking no as an answer, he had to keep scroungeing the money from his friends, luckily for me they where records I was confident of getting again, or at least could get but not on the original label.

So many great tracks - here are a few of mine

Willie Mitchell - that driving beat
Al Wilson - the snake
jimmy James - this heart of mine
The Tomangoes - I really love you

There are just so many. I would buy pretty much anything on the Okeh! label or if it was produced by Carl Davies from the Windy City -(Chicago) -That pretty much guaranteed a good track. Some of the the B sides were better than the A sides. There was LA soul NY soul Chicago, just loads of great tracks made with next to zero budget that never made it big when plenty should have done. CD's came out and all the rare stuff became available mainstream which was great for the scene. I always have 1 in the car with other stuff, Then some TV ad comes on and plays half a minute of an old track and I've gotta dig it out, - that's it - Mrs retreats to another room with TV and the Schweppes mixer case crates come out for an hour the window rattle and the cats dive for cover.

There are loads of good compilations in you local record store and there is always an offer on . Don't know about the vinyl scene but like land and old Mopars - they don't make it anymore.
