Just a quick question to anyone who has been to DB Motors.
They list a VE VIP as being on the breakers list - is it now bits, or rusting in the yard?
Looking for an indicator assembly - can get a new one from Aus, but the shipping times made me look locally.
Will call them this week, but interested in any feedback.

eveything there is very very rusty we looked at an XB falcon and it dissolved
the photos on the site must be 10 years old
i don't recall seeing a VE but then everything is face deep in nettles
VGVIP-steve went off to see another car and it might have been the rusted remains of a VE
i got some NOS indicator lenses off him for VH and some door handles
be persistent
you will get through eventually
he might be in hospital again, cos he's not very well
the owner doesn't know what he has or where half of it is (the buisness was his dads) but the place is stuffed to the gills with bits n bobs even if the yard cars are well past their best. i'll let him tell you about the interesting stuff.
he drove Big bertha and other super saloons in the 70s so you can imagine the stuff that went through his hands
he sold Aussie and US cars from the mid 60s onwards and owned a Bathurst 35 gallon tanked 2 door VG pacer at one point.
His dad ran the buiness before that so the history of what was sold goes way back
when he ordered a car from the UK/european consessionaire
he would order the car with a comprehensive package of spares which he would put on the shelf for when the customer or previous customers with the same model came back for service. nobody who had purchased a car from him had to wait for spares to come from abroad, taking the risk out of US/AUS car ownership was the idea and he just followed the method his dad used
this means he has quite a bit of OLD stuff
don't go into the yard or even the long drive if the gate is shut and the DOGS sign is up
phone him and have him escort you
you don't want to meet the DOGS
...Ask Guy
he will be uncomunicative until he decides you are not there to steal anything or case the joint....
remeber the DOGS.
as you can see Me and steve had a bloody good chat with him....once we had put his forklift back on its wheels (he'd crashed into a shed when we phone him)
i also had a hemi 6 off him which looks to be in great nick no ridge to the bores or anything

Thanks Dave - I spoke to him today. Was quite helpful. Think he would've had quite a chat if it wasn't for the fact that my phone kept losing connection.
He thinks he has a VE, so when I can get there (and he is free) I shall see.

Ah yes he was allways affable with us
took me and steve about a year and half to get an appointment mind
doesn't like being out in the yard in the rain
and
likes to tidy up abit so you don't cry health and saftey when you take yer ankle off on a rusted hulk
badger him once a month
our arguments of we don't know what we want until we see what you got raised suspicion i think
he prefers to sell you new dodge truck parts etc
that way you don't need to visit
if i was going back i'd go for a set of VJ onwards stubs and calipers so you can go fully vented disk on the front of your VE
you'd need some wide 5 on 4.5 wheels mind unless he has some late VE VF or VG disks
the VJ calipers are bracket mounted sliders rather than pin and bush mounted
but he had steering boxes and diffs and wheels etc
the CH we saw was full of interior parts.. i had a few swicthes and that
steve had hubs
but i should also have had the brakes master cylinder and Diff off the Falcon
but we didn't take everything
storage and wife would have been an issue
he should have a couple of 318s a slant 6 and another hemi 6
if he shows you an engine get one from under the water tower or shed...out of the rain

Hi Pete.
What Dave said is spot on.
The VE VIP was suffering a serious case of becoming one with the earth and its surroundings. Body just sitting on the ground becoming a rusty patch of earth.
if i remember the front doors were missing so the interior and everything that was stuffed into it was not much better than if it were out in the open.
there was a lot of stainless trim that will still be ok. Along with front, rear glass and rear doors and glass. Only the front glass was any good to me but i left it as we were on our way to see Guy to collect one. Rear doors are 4 inches shorter than mine so left them
dont recall looking at the lights because the were no good to me... dont remember seeing bumpers on it.
All in worth a look you may take something home worth having.
Good luck.

There are two pictures on this website - no idea of the age of them though, so not sure if they are on the road still.bratfink wrote:What happened to the Black VC that for sale near Cambridge in 04-05?
Did that ever resurface?

1 - a red VC Sedan (looks like the VIP, but says it is the V8 Regal) with a jag hood piece?

2 - a grey-green VC estate.

Found this link for the 1967 model, suggesting not that many around to start with ...

Anyone any other images etc?

I see there is the barn find one about (now on road - you can see it on YouTube-.
How many others are there?
thats the problem
these fall into the classification of Nice presentable vintage cars
often owned by "practical classics" types
i.e the owners often don't go looking for the MMA they are more likely to be linked to the rootes group clubs as the VE was a replacement for the Humber line
i know of a white one in Barnsley
there is a black and green striped one
