Ive strayed to the dark side...

Post by Steve »

New toy arrived yesterday....not enough doors but hey...cant have it all!

Shes a 66 Sport Fury III, 383 Commando, 727, 8 3/4, originally 2bbl but now 4 bbl. Very original and a bit tired in places. Just the project I need to keep me busy. Some bodywork repairs needed and am hoping to learn to use the welding kit that Blue and Steve (VGVIP) kindly donated.

Ive spent the day T Cutting her as the paint was really dull. Come up ok, original and probably staying that way. I will add a pic of the before and after hood treatment. Years of grime and no Bananarama!.

Im skint now so just going to do all the labour intensive jobs first. Vinyl roof has been removed so I will prep it etc and probably paint it. Dont know what colour...black, red, white, cream....decisions.

Found the original certicard next to the battery, got a partial build sheet, owners book and a dealer brochure where the original owner circled the options he wanted. Warranty/ service tag in glove box etc. Love all this stuff.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Congratulations, you have got Mopar Mania badly.

I bet you can do a new Vinyl roof cheaper than proper Prep and paint....

Thanks Pete....really fancied a project and she ticks the boxes. A good start, needs work and meatier jobs than the Polara. Just assumed a new vinyl roof would be mega bugs compared to paint....will look into that. What ever I do will be DIY so prepare for more daft questions!!

Gary, Im still your wing man mate....4 door through and through, just having a little 2 door affair :D

She came with fender skirts which I will try and I want to put original style rocker covers on in blue. Ive also got the original air cleaner which I am going to prep and repaint black for the original look.

The front seat cloth inserts have faded and need to be re coloured to match the rear. Door cards need to come out and all the window winders need to be lubed etc as they dont close very well...love the original dealer sticker on the bumper!
