Post by muzzydave »

hi guys, on behalf of a pal, had 2 converters from P.A in the usa, both have 1mm run out on the pump drive snout! emailed P.A but not being very helpful. any body know what this should be as we recon 1mm will smash the pump in seconds?

Dave,
To be honest I don't know, but 1mm/0.040" sounds excessive & not something I would go ahead & use.

I would of thought it should of been +/- 0.005"

How are you measuring this? i.e torque converter bolted to flexplate or mounting converter in a rotating fixture (such as a lathe)?
You can't have too much power, only a lack of traction!

Dave i spoke with your man, i should stick it in, just imagine the amount off converters bolted up to dodgy flex and the centre boss a poor fit throwing the snout out miles within the pump, i cant imagine anyone bolting all that lot up then putting a dial indicator on the pump snout to check the run out, your man only noticed it with fixing it in a lathe to cut the feet or something,
i would think most have a fair bit of run out, not correct i know but seem to get away with it,
