Post by Johnny Dart »

When I bought the car in the horns were in the boot.I'm fixing it up for mot, and would like to put them in the correct position.Could any 73 Dart owners tell me /take a pic of where they should go.

Most mopars have the horns fitted to the inside of the passenger side inner fender. The opposite side to your photo and behind where the windscreen washer would be . There should be a couple of holes there for mounting them.

Actually I am not sure about A-Body cars because there is less room in the engine bay than the other models. Maybe mount to the radiator frame? But they will still be in that general area. Engine side of the radiator on the passenger side inner fender.

Ah. So they do mount to the radiator frame on the A-body. I did wonder. :thumbright:

So did the screen washer have to fit below them?

Hi Dave thanks for the pic.
I can see where they go now, but the 2 holes are too small for the horn bolts, which makes me wonder if I am missing a bracket ?
do yours have a bracket that they bolt to , or are they bolted straight to the panel, see my pic for holes and horns,
what do you think ?

It looks like yours have a bracket, drill the holes bigger or make a bracket up ;)

I think I may be becoming an anorak, as I want to know what the bracket looks like , and make a repro

Yes, I know the washer bottle is in the wrong place, but I did that a couple of days after I got it home , and I didn't belong to MMA then.
No nice people to ask !!!

Your horns have the bracket on them, its those brackets that bolt to the body/rad frame, look at the pic of the shinny blue car you just have different shape brackets, maybe from a different car? I would just make the 2 holes bigger.
