SHELSLEY WALSH Classic Run 27th April 2014

Post by MattH »

This looks to be a good day out and excuse to drive the car rather than just a static event. Its a 100 mile tour from one of four start points, ending up Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb. Sounds like a similar format to the AVIVA (Norwich Union) Classic, that I did in 2009.

It coincides with Drive it Day this year. Probably well suited to those in the West Mids Areas or Cotswolds.

The next MAC Classic on Sunday, April 27th 2014 will be a real classic car extravaganza! Experience gained from the three previous highly successful Classic events in 2007, 2010 and 2012 will ensure the 2014 event is even better!

There is a choice of four start venues:

Cotswold Airport, Cirencester.
Halfpenny Green Vineyard, Bobbington.
National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull.
Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, Worcester.

After enjoying a full English breakfast and putting the commemorative tour plate on the car, crews will leave the starts to follow a tulip route road book tour through the best of glorious countryside in England and, from some starts, through parts of Wales. All routes will be approximately 100 miles to finish at our famous Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb venue.

On arrival at Shelsley, scene of a recent “Father Brown” episode on BBC TV, cars will be parked in the paddock and car park before drivers and passenger ascend the Hill on an untimed, non-competitive run. Our photographers will be busy perfecting the shots of your car in action.

Pre-booked car clubs can have their own designated parking areas at Shelsley Walsh.

The relaxed, carnival atmosphere will continue during the afternoon with a full brass band playing, pig roast and salad available for entrants, and further refreshments served from the Stratstone Restaurant. There will also be the opportunity for a guided tour round the fully restored Water Mill which will be running on the day.
April 27th 2014 is Drive-it-Day so that is another reason for polishing the classic car and enjoying the company of other car enthusiasts.

The event is open to all-comers with a vintage or classic car or a modern sports car. No need to be a member of the Midland Automobile Club – although you may wish to join after seeing what the Club has to offer!
Send off your entry form and PUT THE DATE IN YOUR DIARY NOW.
