Recommendations? - prop balance and rad recore (SE area)

Post by Prothed »

Couple of odd jobs to do before summer...
1. Vibration from prop shaft (?) above 60-70mph. I've tried running up the car on axle stands and moving a jubilee clip round the shaft with no result.
2. Temp climbs over 200 on motorway but ok around town. Original 26" rad and fan, no obvious blockages or cold spots on rad, new hoses.

Not yet tracked down any good prop or radiator places locally (E Sussex) so does anyone have any recommendations south of the Thames (or at a push round the M25 and up the M40 to Brum)?

Used to go past Aaron radiators in Croydon but never used them.

You could try Brighton radiators(Brighton) for the rad , and a firm near East Grinsted did a few props for us, but I will have to wait until Wed , to find out the name and address ,as I off at the moment.

Bryan radiators 165a Camden Rd, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN1 2RF
Tel: 01892 544635. I've used the prop man here in E.G. He can be a bit elusive but does a good job.

Thanks guys.
The jubilee clip trick is from Bozwell - I was a bit apprehensive about it but hey, what could possibly go wrong...
I put the clip in the middle of the shaft and moved it round 90 degrees between trials. I expected to feel some difference but I couldn't really convince myself. Maybe there is an app for vibration analysis.

Thanks Gary - I'll try the nearer places first, but a known-good place counts for a lot.

While the prop is still in place, can I check the transmission mount by running it up and seeing any vibration or is it too subtle for that?
(Just seen that they are only $5 - but it looks a bit of a pain to get to).
