413 to 440?

Post by Jon Benn »

Can anyone please tell me, is it really possable to bore a 413 block to 440? If so do you have to change anything else or just the pistons?

Thank you

413 bore is 4.18", 440 bore is 4.32", you would need about a 170 thou overbore, I don't think so Jon!

Cheers Blue, I only asked because I saw something somewhere that said you could, as they are exactly the same casting just bored differently. I'll put me Black and Decker away then!

Well Kev, I want to go racing and that project was going to take a lot of years, I am looking for a car that I can use at the Nats next year, I want to have fun. The chassis has gone to a good home and will be back on the strip in a year with a blown fuel motor. I am keeping the engine trans and axle I have and will probably go back to the slingshot plan once I have a working race car.

Cheers Kev,

I am sure I saw a link on here to a company in the US who had pistons cranks etc at really good prices, they also had stripped blocks for sale, and I'm sure they said the 413 could be taken out to 440, anyone else remember the link or have I just been drinking to much!
