I tend to agree, take 1 performance street yank, hop the motor, cage it, tweek the chassis, bolt some slicks on and go bracket racing, much the same as I did with the '71 Cuda back in 1980/1 when starting out in Street Class.
Its relatively cheap, a lot of fun and you still got a car at the end of the day thats worth something, perfect for the budding Drag Racer of today.
And at the other end of the scale is what your planning on doing....you could have more fun at SS and save 2 arms and maybe 1 leg as well..

Don't know much about these guys myself, but they have used and are using "Tilburg Racing Engines" it seems from the states, well set up webster chassis? and no doubt 5000 verters and brakes possibly to hook like that.
Nice set ups, nice cars, would imagine they all run in the mid to very low 10's and would think they have at least £12>15k or more in engine/trans/chassis alone in them at a guess?.
All well and good, but whats the need for such expense for a UK SS type car, its only bracket racing after all with the limitations on chassis alone......Look at Micks SS Dart, 10.1's, done on a budget himself with a footbrake auto and 1.39 60's.

The Tilburg engine was purchased second hand from Sweden i think.Thats in the Nova,Not too sure about there other two cars .... I know the Camaro had a big Scott Shrioff engine (is that how you spell it ?)... For me its just about seeing these cars looking as they should racing each other.... To be honest i do not think i will ever see it run as a full NHRA class ,,but i think or should i say i know that some sort of stocker class is evolving in this country....The hardest rule to enforce will be on the engines but the rules on chassis etc will be easy to enforce....But we could do away with the index system and let the engine side of it find its own way as long as it has no power adders and its a dial in class then that might be its level ...who knows

Its how it all started, except for the stroker motors now, so no need for mega buck engines, to run 9's in a heavy car, no point, just build a strong breathed on stock cube motor, make your chassis hook well, run good 60's and run the numbers on your dial everytime and enjoy yourself for sensible money in UK SS.
