Thirlestane Castle 2014

Post by Dave-R »

Dont miss out on this amazing annual event. Sat 31st May (Rally) - Sun 1st June (static show).

About 800 cars there last year. Fantastic venue and amazing area to visit.

Well worth a weekend away. Best static show I attended last year and there is also a rally around the scenic countryside for those that like a good drive out. Although if your car is as low as mine you might struggle on some of the country roads... :thumbright:

Not too far from me this one, might have a look. Is there plenty of American stuff on display?
Used to work down that way regularly, as Dave says nice area to visit :thumbright:

The show this year has an "American Dream" theme. We must have impressed them last year with our Corvettes.

But in truth there were very few American cars there and even less Muscle. Couple of Mustangs were about it.

It would be great to see some MOPAR MUSCLE at this event. Over 800 cars in very impressive castle grounds just off the A68 which in itself is a great road to drive.
Well worth a long weekend. Lots of B&Bs locally. Best weekend I had last year.

This amazing sculpture has just been completed a short drive to the North of this show.

It is stunning from both an artistic and engineering viewpoint.

Anyone else fancy this one?

It's an amazing show in spectacular landscape. Well worth the trip. On-site camping.

You will not be dissapointed. :)

The American display area is going to be right in front of the Castle. It will make an amazing backdrop for the cars.

Site map is now on the bottom of this web page;

Still only one person interested from this club??? 900 cars expected and loads going on all day long? Great day out and fantastic driving roads to get there?

Anyone? No?

Thats why I gave up being regional rep mate. You can't get anyone to drive north. Yet we have no problem driving south?

I know, I appreciate that life gets in the way of shows sometimes and these days everybody is feeling the pinch. It would be good if some more of the southern cars showed up to shows up here though.

Having said that though, even the two local American clubs up here have a majority of members that don't like driving outside of the North East.

Crying shame when you consider some of the cars up here and how good some of the shows are, not to mention the views, roads and attractions etc.

They all used to set off for Americana every year for sure. And Billy and Davey Horn quite often run down to the Nats. Not always in a Mopar though.

They still do Americana like, seems to be the only distance drive they'll do though.
Billy and Davey are the exception to the rule. It's a pity that there's only a handful of people prepared to travel these days. It's changed so much from when the season was mapped out and you could spend every weekend on the road. I know some people still do but their in the minority up here

Not sure if you can just turn up or not. I have a regional rep who takes care of these matters for me. ;)
