Headlamp bowl springs - How ??

How do you get the springs that fit the headlamp bowl through the metal panel? 70 Challenger front end, the 4 springs that pull the headlamp tight seem impossible to fit through the tiny hole on the front of the fender.

Any ideas? I assume I have got the right springs.

just had a thought, do they screw on with a screw going through the middle?
