XL 500

Post by Rogue Trooper »

Hi
I've just collected an XL 500 pics to follow 😁
A little rough around the edges but I couldn't pass it up.
The guy said the the tank and front mudguard is off a Sebring, at least I think I caught it right as his English was a bit pigeon.
The tank must hold nearly double the standard tank
It'll make a nice little run about.
I'll go through the top end and replace the down pipes as well as there a little crusty.
But other that that it a cracker 😎

Some great memories looking at the pics. Believe it or not me and me mates would ride one 3 up !!! Still pulled like a train ( still I was about 14 and weighed about 6 stone soaking wet !!!)

Think they done a Paris Dakkar one similar to Yams Tenere of the time ?

Cool bike :thumbright:

I've only ever ridden the XL250 once, that was probably 25 years ago, so i'm looking forward to winding this one up :thumbright:

Parts are still available so that's good.

Depending on how long I can keep it hidden from the missis, will ultimately see how long I can Keep it

I had a really early 250, the one with the 23" front wheel, swapped it for my RD250 at college one day
That 500 looks to be a pretty decent bike, ta for postin :thumbright:

I had a really old one of these that had been totally restored....I hated it!

Lovely to look at but I just couldnt kick start her. Spat me off a couple of times and had a week off with a Bananarama! up ankle and sold it. Had a decompression lever thing, just never had the 'knack'. Electric start would have been great!

Nice looking bikes though :thumbright:
