'71 RT 340 Challenger UK Market Value...

The information originally fed to me was that the car was an original # matching '70 340 RT to which my initial response was that I didn't think the 340 was an RT option in '70... (as you guys and my research have confirmed, this is correct) I assumed it must be a '71 and yesterday started this thread on that assumption.... this morning the pictures I received have shown the car to definitely be a '70.
So after reading your responses and doing a little digging, I found this little section on allpar.com....
''...The slow-selling ragtop R/T was not available, but a few savvy buyers optioned 340 non-R/T hardtops and ragtops with the Go-Wing, Shaker, Rallye Gauge Cluster, and the side stripes that mimiced the R/T versions. The 1971 340 R/T, like 1970’s A40 340 performance Challengers (often badged as R/Ts), had a tachometer with a higher redline than their big block bretheren. By the same token, you could order a 340 R/T look-alike with a shaker and a go-wing, and most of the R/T paraphernalia, without the higher insurance premiums. .....''
Regarding he bold bit about the 70's 340s being badged as RTs.... is this something that would have been done at the factory or is the article referring to something owners would of done themselves?
