line lock

Post by Anonymous »

is it possible to get an electrically operated line lock? one where you operate your brakes, push the button (& hold) & when you take your foot off the pedal, the front brake line is still under pressure,I seem to remember this type was available,or have I just had a dream :dontknow: so that ,once the button is released you have full brakes,if these are available who sells them & the magic question ,how much( and in fact are they any good)

Mine's a cheapy Biondo from Summit plumbed into the rear brakes. Switch them off and the fronts are on the foot brake. Ideal for a controlled rolling burnout  (I was told  ) But REMEMBER to switch the rears back on! (Eh? Philth! )

I use the same cheap one as Kev.

Only with mine I use a little push button built into the top of the shifter.

Now with mine I installed it so that you press the brake first and then when the (non-latching) switch is pressed and held with the thumb it holds the front brakes on while I (or more often Linda) take my foot off the footbrake and do the burnout.

Then it is just a matter of releasing the thumb pressure to release the front brakes when you have enough smoke. Backing off the throttle gently as you roll out.

Doing it this way it is impossible to accidently run without the brakes working.

With my 4 piston Strange calipers and slotted discs I don't need no stinkin' rear brakes :D

I've also got the Biondo, and also plumbed it in the rear line (backwards)

Either way is good as long as you don't use a latching switch like a toggle switch on the dash or something really stupid like that. :)

I don't do left foot brake until on the start line (my left foot has very litle brain and it already has a couple of other jobs) so my way was just better for me.

Put 2 in and have a basic launch control. Guy does it, and Paul Worrow.

Me too! one in the front line for burnouts, and a second in the rear line which I can operate as well to lock all four wheels in conjunction wilth a rev limiter to create a "poor man's transbrake". Both are Biondo units available in the UK from Speedflow. I strongly agree with Dave, only ever wire up a line lock thru' a momentary switch, lets keep it safe out there as you're sliding sideways down the road at high speed, straddling the white line with clouds of tyre smoke in your wake...
