Jon, it's a small block, you ARE the "word on the street'
I checked the Airwolfs when you first posted them, very spendy at $2400 a pair. Think I can get Eddys landed at my door for about £1250
Don't suppose you can remember the part number on those Mahle pistons can you
looking on line they come in compression heights from 10.1 upwards.

Definately Blue ... I don`t trust their figures ... I would like to see someone like Ryan Shadeydell make independent comments on them. ??
IMM seem to be very vague and secretive
INDY are INDY ... good heads but flakey on flow figures
So, probably best allround proven head is still Ede ( W9 / Brodix etc too exotic )

download Mr P kelly's dynamic CR calculator
plug in your engine
and see whats what
you don't need to understand every aspect of the text on this site
just the bit about what too much dynamic CR is
work out your number for the edelbrock heads and your cam
not the be all and end all but a useful tool none the less

There is the issue of Quality Control to contend with...

A lot of what I read when Id been looking into them seemed to be recent heads. Stuff from early 2000's etc seem to be good quality.drewcrane wrote:Interesting ,I have a set of Eddies on my 440 for jeeze 10 years or so and 30 k miles or more, no issues what so ever.
I do remember the reason for buying them, they were cheaper than rebuilding a set of stock iron heads, and they work better.
It looks like Edel has decided cash is king at the expense of getting the basic package right!
And there is the issue for a street driven motor.
£1250on the heads and the what......another £500 at the shop.
By the time you bolt them down I'm sure they will be ringing in at around £2k!
What would be the BHP gain per £?
Gets expensive......fast!

Humm they must have changed something, sigh as usual we have to watch crap ,yea at the time they were 1200.00 usd, and to have the iron heads done was 1500.00,
and I used the stock rocker shaft, bought some Hughes rockers (those are crap too) , but knock on wood they are holding up ,I think I had about 1500.00 when done so right at the same cost. but you guys have to pay for the shipping,
I remember when I came over there I thought about tossing a set in the luggage they are 40 lbs per head, so a set would work ,but it I think the Wife shut that down

You could try Hughes, talk to them, I would've thought they check their product?

totally understand, would've thought its worth paying a bit more for them to check them and make sure they are all ok if its not too much, but you shouldn't have to do that!!!, the product should measure up. I don't send inferior products in my job.
Have you priced up how much to put 2.02's in your J's, have them de-flashed, bowl ported etc. and perhaps a small skim to raise static, it won't matter then about your slugs being down the bore.....don't think you'll be far off the cost and performance?, I don't know the going rate these days though....try Rob Loaring at ICE, he's a top man on engines., mention my name and he'll double the price
You could contact Jon Connolly to see if he still has those 1971 2.02 heads that have been flowed?..he may split?, just some alternatives.
