I tell you what though, when you wheel that Daytona out we'll trade places for a run.
You`re on !!
9.844 @ 134.04 ... Smallblock Valiant + NOS
10.169 @ 130.17 ... Smallblock Dodge Ram pick up truck - motor only.
in a good chassis that would go 9.90.s with that mph
Well I think I had a reasonable chassis in the '69, 4.88 gears, L-Bars/coil-overs, 3000lbs all in, 600hp, 7150 at the traps and 133.9 for that 9.96 with a 1.39 60ft, and I reckoned that was down 1 mph. Perhaps with a T-Brake, 5.13's and a super stock type 6000 launch you could knock some mph off that to 132 perhaps.
131 to almost 134 is quite a difference when trying to pull a 9.90, i think it wouldn't be easy much under 132 with a chassis similar to mine unless it was a lot lighter. Perhaps someone here can show me such a car? To be honest, that's why i dont say much when people keep telling me are you going for it, like it's easy. Although i do feel there's a 10.0 something in my car as it sits on a very good day if the moon and stars align at the same time.

Here's the fastest car list from moparts. There's three guys running under 10 with less than 132, one is at 2880, so i'll discount him, one is an unknown weight and chassis type and one is legit, so i'd say there's two cars that look capable and one is definitely a similar set up to mine but look at their 60 ft times 1.35 and 1.36 ! Then you could ask other questions, do they use a trans brake ? do they have caltracs ? what does their converter stall at ?
When i had mine built, i went for a 9" that stalls at 5000 but ATI recommended a 8" that stalled at 5500, that's a very small window to work in, when you comsider i dont shift higher than 6300 and trap between 66 and 6700. ATI converters probably have more winners in stocker circles than any other manufacture so they must know what they're doing.

Thanks Jon but i'm not deliberately trying to pump my chest out, ( fat chance ) I put the vids up because i think they're very good, also i'd like to see more mopars out there along with the usual stalwarts.
Blue, i have one or two things in mind over the winter.

here's an interesting extreme example of ET/mph from an SS car that launches at 6000 and runs through to 8000...and one that doesn't. Apart from the 3/100ths quicker RT the Nova was a car and a half ahead before half way at 1.21 giving him a shorter track to build speed, but still got run down as superior p/w and 8mph came into play for the Camaro.
Yes that car is very efficient and only runs a 396, has a best 60ft of 1.37. Mind you it has a 2 step, trans brake and caltracs and a 20,000 dollar motor by tilburg racing engines in new york.
Nice though and very clean.

Bet a Dollar to a dime your car is at least a second quicker now it's running better/properly!
As always get it runnin right, run a time..........then the fun and expense starts!
I would think low to mid 13s should be an easy target for that car!
Dave Tildesley.....MMA-081
72 Dodge Dart
73 Plymouth Duster - SOLD
I wanna go so FAST i think i'm going to DIE!..........Then i'll shift into second!

Maybe in a car with ladders or four link but i still think 131 is a bit shy of 9.90's unless it's very light. Which, while mine is fairly light it's not a featherweight. When i tubbed the car and fitted a new boot floor, with hindsight i wish i'd gone to ladder bars. You can see all the wasted motion with leaf springs[/quote]
exactly your always limited running stock ish rear suspension,,,
