Are they not physically exactly the same, bar paint and numbers?

Yep, BMK1 & BX quite a few changes.

Aircraft are like that, same basic types, lots of variants, some looking similar, some not, the Mozzie is a good example of that as well as the Lancaster.

Indeed Pete, effectively from the diminutive MKI to the mighty MK24 & Seafire FR47

Reminded myself earlier of what awaited on the conventional weapon front ... two 22000lb Grand Slams slung under a B29,

Its a easy spot...the Canadian Lanc is a left hand Drive
