Reminder please- timing SB dissy. Wheres Daves timing guide?

Post by db »

Didn't Dave's timing guide (and the carb idle guide) used to be stickys? Can anyone post up a link and sticky 'em please?

If not a reminder on lining up my dissy would be a big help please.

I thought you had done this enough times.

#1 Piston at TDC on compression stroke and then back it off 12 degrees or so to get it to fire and then strobe for 34 degrees full advance....

You'd think so wouldn't you mate, I blame lack of sleep ;)
My brain just loses stuff unless I'm using it regularly....

So to complicate things I had to pull the dissy out.
Do I find tdc then drop the dissy in so the rotor lines up with #1, then what you said?

Turn the motor with the Dizzy in it and see what turns up, don't take it out unless you have to.......

Paul. If dissy is out. Turn the crank over until both valves are rocking at TDC on number one piston. Then you can follow Pete's instructions. This will prevent you being 180 degrees out.

TBC Number one compression stroke and the insert the oil pump dive so the slot in pointing towards front inlet manifold bolt on drivers side (cylinder one). Number one is drivers side front cylinder then install the dissy with rotor pointing to lead one. If it backfires when you crank turn rotor arm 180degress. Job done.

IT LIVES!
Misfiring horribly- black plugs from pumping the throttle to keep it going, probably need to strip the carb to clean out what's washed through from the fuel lines and get the timing bang on.

Paul, obvious but are the plug leads in the right order ie not reversing 5 & 7 which it won't like?
Just wondering why it's misfiring that much. Is it too much fuel or sparking in the wrong order.
Like that Morcambe and Wise sketch! all the right notes! But not necessarily in the right order!
