Back to the discussion, I'm pretty much committed to the iron LA X heads. The combustion chamber is 62cc closed chamber which is quite a lot less than oem. Am I likely to run into piston to valve clearance issues?
The pistons are flat and a touch below deck height at TDC

Indeed, you'll have to carry out serious deck work to encounter any piston 'interference' issues.

You will however have to consider a spot of deck work to make the most of the quench effect offered from closed chamber heads. Fine lines to be drawn at times Mon Brave ;)

Yes, Mike. I suspect our set ups will be pretty close with the new heads. I'll give you a shout later to check on a couple of things, cheers.

Well, I just bit the bullet and dropped a lot of dollars ( timed the exchange rate as best as I could) on the new heads.

Spoke directly with Brian Hilfiger who talked me through the options and these heads will be bolt on with everything checked, big valves, high velocity ports, blended valve bowls etc..

Looks like I'm in for the long haul with this Roadrunner now :?

Great flow numbers. These heads have the best exhaust port by all accounts which is a classic weak spot on stock heads

The above shows various head flow numbers. Almost none match up to the LA x heads on the exhaust side,
Should be fun finding out ;)

According to this guy, stock J's don't even make 200cfm

So 255cfm at .480 is a huge improvement and there's plenty left for when you get into a bigger hyd?......Nice.

Well I can't get them shipped until December, so a road test is a way off.
As you note Les, more cam will be a potential upgrade! but not until I've tested the set up as it currently is.
