Not heard of Hot Rod..............Well, decided to watch the first ten mins at lunch today...........ended up watching an hours worth.......... :help:

Have to say for a late 70s TV movie it was actually very good!

Only let down by the recording quality but hey ho, can't have everything! Better than some of the films of that era that's for sure (Electra glide in blue springs to mind)!

Thanks for the link Steve!

I watched DOH as a nipper, then watched Brewster Mcloud when I was 14 yrs old and first saw a leaping 70 Roadrunner in slow motion and the scene where the air grabber shuts. I couldn't believe cars had these features and I never forgot it. When the internet hit my office computer I searched and found a limelight 440 + 6 N96, 4 speed with trac pac for sale in the states as a one owner job for $2000 but got nervous and spent the money on a UK TR6 project. The car remained my screen saver for 6 years, I had never seen one in the flesh or in Cheshire. A few years later a crusty yellow one was on eBay and I gave it serious consideration, but it was a bit rough in the photos and it then sold. Then a couple of years later an Vit C one was for sale at a garage for quite a while but it was priced out of my reach, then mine came up for sale and the guy who had it was the first uk owner. It sold while I was on holiday.... Gutted! Then it came up again and I was in dialogue with the seller and he then sold it before we made a deal... Double gutted. Then it went on eBay again with a silly number because the chap who bought it, a nice guy, had a change of circumstances. I went downtown Kent to see the car and it had been stripped down and quite a few repairs had been carried out, rest of it was in boxes and carrier bags. I looked at it and thought blooming heck it still needs loads of work, missing parts, nothing labeled but there were some photos. Walked away from it, so disappointed....... Triple gutted. Had a sleepless night in digs got back home, moped about for a bit, then thought when am I going to get another chance of a real RM23? Rang him an did the deal over the phone....sorted.

At that time I had loads of cash, a nice house, wife and two kids, after two years or so the car was on the road, but no cash, wife doesn't speak to me, a maxed out credit card and a second mortgage. Now how did the car repay all this kindness and self sacrifice??? It chewed up its camshaft after 40 miles!

I ask why did I get into Mopars....
